David Clelland is Lecturer in Rural Regeneration at the University of Glasgow’s Dumfries Campus. His research background is in local and regional economic development, with a focus on governance, leadership and regional geographies, as well as the measurement of poverty and deprivation in rural areas. His recent work includes research into the local impacts of and responses to Covid-19 border closures in the northern provinces of Vietnam, and he is currently engaged in an international project exploring the resilience and potential for green recovery of coastal regions.
