The outbreak of Covid-19 has affected lives of hundreds of thousands of men and women throughout the world. In Italy, the impact has been more severe than in the rest of Europe. Women are severely hit by the choc, both on their jobs and in their family life, with consequences on their work and financial decisions. The lockdown is expected to induce a reorganization of the family which has the potential to modify current and future gender gaps. Using survey data from a representative sample of 1600 Italian women (workers and non-workers), we compare work conditions, hours of housework and childcare, as well as financial decisions of women before, during the first three months of the emergency and after six months.
