Dr. Santamaria holds a PhD in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. She joined the University of Warwick as an Assistant Professor in 2019. She received the Young Economist Award by the European Economic Association (2019). Her main fields of expertise are International Trade, Spatial Economics and Urban Economics. Recently she has been working on the economics of Transport Infrastructure, the persistence of Border frictions in Europe and the allocation of Public Procurement in Spain and France. She is also an associate at CAGE (Competitive Advantage and Global Economy) Research Centre and a member of the Spatial Disparities Policy network at the CEPR.
