Gioele is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde and researcher at the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP) and the Fraser of Allander Institute. He has joined the Department of Economics at the University of Strathclyde in January 2019 having previously worked as a research associate for the Fraser of Allander Institute and the Centre for Energy Policy at the same institution. Gioele has interest and expertise in regional economics and economics of energy and climate change. From a regional perspective, he focusses on regional and international trade of regions, on the impact of trade deals on regional economies, and the economic consequences of regional trade policies. From an environmental perspective, he has focussed on issues related to the economic consequences of energy efficiency and their ramifications in different parts of the economy. Currently, he is interested in the intersection between international trade and environmental policies.
