David Jordan is a Research Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast. His research focuses on regional economics and the Northern Ireland economy, and how its performance is shaped by institutions and policy. David is also a Research Associate at the Queen’s University Centre for Economic History, and a Postgraduate Research Associate of the Queen’s University Institute of Irish Studies.

Marlene Jugl is Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Bocconi University in Milan. She holds a doctoral degree from the Hertie School in Berlin. In her research, she explores how government organizations interact with politicians, citizens, and other stakeholders, and how societal, cultural, and historical factors influence how governments and bureaucracies function. Her main research interest is on country size and its effects on the structure and performance of public administration.

Professor Patricia Justino is a leading expert on political violence and development. She is currently UNU-WIDER’s Deputy Director and Professorial Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies (on leave). She holds a MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in Economics from the University of London. She has held visiting positions at Harvard University (2007-09) and the European University Institute (2017), among others.
